1. Can 1960 West Chiropractic
help me with my problem?
A doctor of chiropractic (D.C.) will perform an examination
to help diagnose the cause of the problem. This will
determine if chiropractic treatment can help you. If
necessary, he/she can do special tests such as x-rays
or an MRI. Dr. Karen Thomason will then explain your
diagnosis, recommend a treatment plan and discuss treatment
options. If it is discovered that you require attention
from a medical doctor, Dr. Thomason will refer you to
the appropriate medical specialist, such as a neurologist,
neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, pain specialist, etc.

2. Do I have to have x-rays taken?
X-rays are often necessary to make a diagnosis or rule
out certain conditions. This decision is made on
an individual basis, based on a patient's age, examination
findings, etc. We have an X-ray facility on site
so there is no need to travel elsewhere.

3. What kind of treatments do you
use?
Chiropractors are best known for using spinal manipulation
or adjustments. However in addition to manipulation,
we at 1960 West Chiropractic employ a variety of other
treatments including: soft tissue therapies (such as
myofascial or trigger point therapy), physiotherapy modalities
(such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation), and
therapeutic exercise (such as flexibility and strength
training).

How many treatments will I need?
That depends on the nature and severity of your condition,
age or other health variables, and length of time
that symptoms have persisted. Some conditions can
resolve in very few treatments, However, a specific
treatment plan is developed for each individual patient.

What about insurance?
We accept most insurances and are members of many PPOs
and Discount Card Plans. We also see on-the-job injuries
and are on the State of Texas Worker's Compensation
Approved Doctor List. This office typically accepts
assignment-meaning the patient pays only the co-pays
and deductible. Then we will receive payment from the
insurance company. For Worker's Compensation and Automobile
Insurance there are no co-pays or deductible and the
insurance company pays this office directly. We accept
all forms of automobile insurance: Personal Injury Protection
(PIP), Med-Pay and Liability. If the accident is caused
by another driver, we will work directly with the other's
driver's insurance for payment. The patient may not
have to make payments up front.
